OVERVIEW
What You’ll Learn
This qualification reflects the trade-qualified role of a bricklayer, blocklayer or paver who may have responsibility for undertaking bricklaying, blocklaying and paving work across residential, industrial and commercial contexts — in both new builds and existing structures.
You'll develop the practical skills to work with brick, block, stone and related materials to construct walls, paving, arches, heritage structures and more — all in a hands-on, industry-aligned environment.

Laying bricks, blocks and pavers to plans and specifications
Constructing walls, piers, columns and arches
Working with mortar, renders and sealants
Applying heritage and refractory bricklaying techniques
Reading and interpreting construction drawings
Applying WHS requirements on construction sites
Delivery & Assessment Note
Training and assessment is conducted in a real or closely simulated workplace environment in line with industry requirements. Assessment includes practical skills demonstrations, written assessments and project work.

How You’ll Train
Hands-on and real-world — structured learning with classroom, workshop and practical assessment
Trade-Qualified Trainers
Learn from bricklayers with genuine industry experience — professionals who have laid thousands of metres of brickwork in residential and commercial settings.
Structured Term Delivery
Training is delivered over 52 weeks of study (with 8 weeks of scheduled holidays), at approximately 20 hours of contact time per week.
Blended Classroom & Practical Sessions
Theoretical knowledge is covered in classroom sessions, while hands-on units are assessed in simulated or real construction environments.
Purpose-Built Workshop
Practice your craft in our North Rocks workshop — a facility designed to replicate real construction site conditions for safe, structured practical training.
How You’ll Be Assessed
Assessment is competency-based and reflects real workplace expectations.

Entry Requirements
Minimum age: 18 years at time of enrolment
Year 10 completion or equivalent
English proficiency: IELTS 6.0 overall (or equivalent), no band below 5.5
LLN assessment prior to enrolment
White Card (CPCCWHS1001) required before commencing on-site work
Pathways
Certificate IV in Building and Construction (CPC40120)
Diploma of Building and Construction — Building (CPC50220)
Trade licensing as a bricklayer in relevant state/territory
Specialisation in heritage or refractory bricklaying
