Key Policy Summaries

An overview of your most important rights and obligations as a student.

Fees & Refunds

Tuition fees are outlined in your Letter of Offer and Written Agreement. Refund entitlements depend on the circumstances of withdrawal. Where Academia of Trade cancels a course, a full refund of unspent tuition fees will be provided. For student-initiated withdrawals, refund entitlements are calculated in accordance with our Fees and Refunds Policy. Full details are in the downloadable policy document.

Deferral, Suspension & Cancellation

Students may apply to defer or suspend their studies in certain circumstances, including compassionate or compelling grounds. Requests must be submitted in writing with supporting documentation. Suspension or cancellation of enrolment by the institution may be initiated in cases of non-payment, unsatisfactory course progress, or breach of student conduct standards. International students should be aware that any change to enrolment status must be reported to the Department of Home Affairs and may affect visa conditions.

Privacy

Academia of Trade collects and stores student personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles. Your information is used for the purposes of enrolment, training delivery, assessment and regulatory reporting. We do not share your personal information with third parties except as required by law or with your consent.

Course Progress & Attendance

All students are required to maintain satisfactory course progress and attendance throughout their enrolment. Satisfactory progress is defined as successfully completing at least 50% of the course requirements in each completed term. Students who are at risk of not meeting progress requirements will be contacted and offered additional support. For international students, course progress requirements are linked to student visa conditions.

Complaints & Appeals

All students have the right to make a complaint or appeal a decision made by Academia of Trade. The internal complaints and appeals process is free of charge. Students are encouraged to first attempt to resolve concerns informally. If this is not possible, a formal complaint can be lodged using the Complaints and Appeals Form. Where a complaint is not resolved internally, students may escalate to the Overseas Students Ombudsman (international students) or the National Training Complaints Hotline.
